Dee Wallace makes first Horror Realm appearance

She is one of the most iconic scream queens of all time, starring in classics like The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, Cujo, and of course, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. But did you know that she is also a prolific author, speaker, and healer? In this blog post, we will introduce you to the amazing life and career of Dee Wallace, the actress who can do it all.
Early Life
Dee Wallace was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on December 14, 1948. She grew up in a loving but poor family, and learned to value hard work and creativity from an early age. Dee was interested in acting since she was a child, and participated in school plays and local theater productions. She also excelled in academics, and earned a full scholarship to study education at the University of Kansas.
After graduating, she moved to New York City to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She worked as a waitress and a teacher while auditioning for various roles. Dee landed her first film role in 1975, playing a minor character in The Stepford Wives. Moving to Los Angeles, she met her future husband, Christopher Stone, who was also an actor.
Hollywood Calls
In 1977, she got her big break when she was cast as Lynne Wood, the mother of a family terrorized by cannibalistic mutants in Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes. The film was a huge success, and established Dee Wallace as a horror star. She went on to appear in several other horror films in the late 70s and early 80s, such as The Howling, Cujo, Critters, and The Frighteners. She also played more diverse roles in dramas and comedies, such as 10, Blake Edwards’ romantic comedy with Dudley Moore and Bo Derek.
However, her most famous role came in 1982, when she played Mary, the mother of Elliott, the boy who befriends an alien in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The film was a global phenomenon, and became the highest-grossing film of all time until Jurassic Park surpassed it in 1993. Dee Wallace’s performance as a loving but struggling single mother was praised by critics and audiences alike.
Dee Wallace continued to work steadily throughout the 80s and 90s, appearing in dozens of films and TV shows. She also became a mother herself, giving birth to her daughter Gabrielle Stone in 1984. She and Christopher Stone were married until his death from a heart attack in 1995.
Diverse Interests
In the 2000s, Dee Wallace reinvented herself as an author, speaker, and healer. She wrote several books on self-help and spirituality, such as Bright Light: Spiritual Lessons from a Life in Acting, Conscious Creation: Directing Energy to Get the Life You Want, and On Dandelion Seed: Healing Thoughts for Anyone with Cancer or Other Illnesses. Dee also created her own radio show called Conscious Creation Radio, where she interviews guests on various topics related to personal growth and healing. She also offers workshops and private sessions on healing and empowerment.
Dee Wallace is still active as an actress today, appearing in both mainstream and independent films and TV shows. Some of her recent credits include Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, The Lords of Salem, Grimm, Supernatural, Just Add Magic, and Critters Attack!. She has also reprised her role as Mary in the sequel to E.T., which is currently in development.
